FUN = PAIN
If you’ve read my previous post you’ll know our course has properly started now, and boy, are we busy. Even more so because whereas regular students have 5 months to finish their film, we have only three. Then we have to head back home and graduate. Arg. But I’m not complaining, it’s been great fun — and after all, nothing worth doing comes without effort.

That’s trash. Garbage. Crap. Muck. The stuff you don’t want. And the title of our animation project here in Bristol. And I don’t mean the royal plural either. Paco Vink and Bastiaan Terhorst –clayslingers extraordinaire– are back. Indeed, the team that brought you such classics as Hermand and his Glasses, Eberhart’s Lament, and Urinal Cakes and You has returned to kick some serious plasticine butt. Oh boy!

ha, zijn jullie al klaar? wink. je moet eerst een formulier invullen om iets te doen hoor, met handtekening van je supervising leraar, die daarna weer geverifieerd moet worden door de afdelinghoofd. daarna moet je naar administratie, dat formulier inleveren om de uiteindelijke toestemming te krijgen, en dat bij iedere move die je wil maken. dat je het maar weet.

Howdy-doody people! Just so you know; I’m not a competing artist, I don’t want to sue you and I don’t want your babies. Convinced? Okay to read on? Good. All I want to say is I think your work is totally kick-ass quality, and I was wondering if you could give me some pointers for how to get into this kind of work. Do you join an animation society? Take a billion university degrees? Get to know the right sort of people at Pixar studios? etc.
Seriously- would love to hear more about how to get into this work and if theres any possibility for a limey (yes, I’m English believe it or not from my grammar) like me to join in, and hope you keep churning out stuff at the same A-grade amusement factor.

Hi Fred! Thanks for the kind words. Anyway, there isnt’t much to it. What you need is dedication, insanity and drugs. And maybe an idea.
And about Pixar, I wish I knew anyone there. It would be great for picking up girls. Or maybe I’ve been sitting in this tiny dark room for too long.
